Authentic Communication is the first prize

Everybody when they communicate has an agenda, including you! Authentic commnunication takes place when we are transparent about our agendas and carefully construct our arguments using well ereferenced research, carefully selected facts and and even emotional tone to preset out point of view. Then we carefully listen and engage with what the other person is saying. In this sense authenic communication is a huge risk as well as a wonderful opportunity to develope because it might mean that we could be changed by the other person's point of view.

How you can be deceptively persuaded to agree with a point of view

However not all communication is authentic and two way. We are continually bombarded every day with millions of messages that are one way and have hidden agendas. Many people and institutions want us to comply with thier agenda in order to achieve thier own ends. If we are fortunate sometimes these agendas do complement what we want to achieve. however we need to think very carefully about this before committing our time, energy and resources to fulfilling somebody else's mission.
